The CTC-Router is a WLAN access point , which we preconfigure for your model railway.

To do this, we select a suitable model and test it thoroughly.

Our current favorite is the FritzBox 4050:

Unfortunately, the previously offered FritzBox 4040 is no longer available.

Outdoor router

For operation in the garden, we also recommend a FritzBox, which is either placed in the house in such a way that its signal can be received well in the garden or is hung in the garden solely for operating the model railway.

To improve reception, one or more weatherproof (outdoor) repeaters can be placed in the garden. Recently, Fritz has also launched an outdoor repeater (FritzRepeater 1610 Outdoor).

For our own garden railway, we use a FritzBox as the CTC-Router in the garage at the shadow station and (still) two tp-link EAP225O repeaters in the garden. The repeaters will be replaced by FritzRepeater 1610 Outdoor for the 2026 garden railway season.

Service WiFi registration

Since we have the CTC-Router, whether it was part of the starter set or ordered separately, fully preconfigured, we know your network name (SSID) and your network identifier (password). This is why you will always receive your CTC modules from us already registered in your model railway WiFi. This service is the reason for the price surcharge of the CTC-Router compared to a standard FRITZ ox.
