Turnouts with Double-Coil Drive
The double-coil drive is the standard drive in H0 scale , sometimes affectionately called "click-clack". It consists of two electromagnets, one for each switching direction. It is connected with three wires: one common power supply and one switching line per electromagnet.
Note: Some double-coil drives do not switch off or switch unreliably when the end position is reached. If these are switched with continuous current, the electromagnet burns out or sticks to plastic guides within seconds. Such damage is usually irreparable.

Motor-Driven Turnouts (2-wire)
Drives with a motor that is controlled with inverted polarity depending on the switching direction. A special feature here is the LGB turnout drive , which sounds like a double-coil drive (click-clack), but actually contains a motor.

Motor-Driven Turnouts (3-wire)
Motor-driven turnouts enable a prototypical slow and smooth switching of the turnout. To make replacing double-coil drives as easy as possible, various manufacturers offer such turnouts with a three-wire connection.
