G7.1 Conversion Complete

Notes:

  • Only one screw under the steam dome—then the housing can be lifted off from the top: electronics are under the boiler, motor is in the tender.
  • Speaker housing removed, creating space for a capacitor. There is barely not enough room for 1000 µF, so only 470 µF was used.
  • IR receiver glued to the tender coupling; the cable duct still has enough space for the IR cable. Feedthrough via a connector is not possible.

Conclusion:

  • Very easy to open
  • Simple conversion
  • Soldering only required for the IR receiver.
