All modules have a status indicator:
- Yellow LED on CTC-Turnout-Module and CTC-Multi-I/O-Board
- Headlight on locomotives
The startup process of a CTC module is indicated as follows: The indicator lights up until the WiFi is initialized.
This happens so quickly that it is not noticed during a normal start. While the WiFi is being searched and until the CTC module successfully connects, the indicator flashes twice briefly and then turns off for about 1 second .
With firmware before 20260105, the indicator flashes. Once the CTC switching module is connected to the WiFi, the indicator turns off .
On CTC-Loco-Modules, the headlight turns on or off depending on the configuration.
After one minute of unsuccessful attempts to connect the CTC module to the WiFi, the following happens:
- If the CTC module has a temporary WiFi, it is removed and the module restarts, i.e., it now attempts to connect to the configured WiFi.
- Without a temporary WiFi, the CTC module enters configuration mode.
In configuration mode , the indicator flashes twice briefly and then stays on for about 1 second . With firmware before 20260105, the indicator switches to continuous lighting. After two minutes in configuration mode without anyone connecting to the CTC module, the module restarts. See also Chapter 3.1 - Connecting modules to WiFi .
Note:
- Regular flashing at one-second intervals does not normally occur on newer modules (from 2026, firmware 20260105). It indicates that the module keeps reaching the first step, crashes, and restarts, e.g., due to a power supply failure. A missing buffer capacitor on Digital Strom or an analog transformer can be the cause.
