If you want CTC modules to also impress with sound, you need to rely on existing digital technology. Nowadays, there are several ways to do this:
- CTC locomotive modules can generate a DCC signal. This way, either the digital decoder supplied with the locomotive can continue to be used, or a new digital decoder can be connected. Learn more about this in Chapter 8.1 - “Old Digital: Integrating DCC Decoders”
- Starting from the firmware (20230902) included with the CTC-App Version 4.19, the SUSI interface can be retrofitted for all CTC locomotive modules (except CTC-Lokmodul-H0a). For locomotives that originally used a SUSI module for sound, the original sound can be retained without having to keep the original decoder. This is possible, for example, with PIKO’s Gauge G model of the BR50. Learn more about SUSI sound in Chapter 9.1 - “Sound with SUSI Interface”
